The Complete Concise History of GNU/Linux
Hello, this is Linus Torvalds and I pronounce "Linux" as "Lin-ux"
The Group meets the first, second, and fourth Tuesday evening at 7:00 in the Computer Lab which is located on South side of the Olympia Community Center in Olympia. (Second floor behind the boutique)

Skill Levels  Beginning to Advanced methods, I.e, Security issues
Objectives  Introducing the group to GNU/Linux is fun and having experts in the room really helps

 

  • Open Source Platform
    • GNU/Linux Live CD and Installation of Ubuntu Distribution (Often).
    • Other Live Distribution and Live Application CD's may be demonstrated.
    • Gnome Desktop Enviroment - KDE Desktop will come in the near future.
    • GIMP and other include programs(applications).
    • Group Input will always be an important factor in both presentations and questions.

We do our demonstrations using the "Point & Click" virtual desktop interfaces common to the GNU/Linux platforms such as Ubuntu. (Very Similiar to the Windows bases platforms and GUI interface without the fear of malicious Malware and Viruses). You'll feel right at home, and you may decide you can not live without you own home GNU/Linux Computer. Or you can learn how to multi-boot with Windows Platforms (XP pro, Vista, Win7). If you want to know more about the "innards" of GNU/Linux, someone can show you. Our goal is to have fun, learn more Ubuntu, and in the process learn respect of all operating systems.
