New Office 365 OneDrive storage is essentially “unlimited”

Microsoft raised the roof on its OneDrive storage this week. The new OneDrive capacities are still limited, but for most Office 365 users, the new OneDrive plans basically amount to unlimited online storage.

In April, Microsoft increased the OneDrive limit for Office 365 business accounts from 20 GB to 1 TB. Now, Microsoft is providing that same 1 TB of online OneDrive storage for all Office 365 accounts. Office 365 Personal and Office 365 University accounts will each receive 1 TB of OneDrive storage. Office 365 Home accounts will get a separate 1 TB of OneDrive storage for each of the five users on the account.

In a post on the OneDrive Blog, Microsoft explained the move to provide more storage. “With OneDrive, we want to give you one place for all of your stuff: your photos, videos, documents, and other files. Of course, to do this, we need to make sure you actually have enough storage space for everything, particularly given that the amount of content everyone has is growing by leaps and bounds.”

However, storage (in general) is fairly cheap. You can buy 3 TB of external storage for your PC from Amazon for $100. While most cloud storage providers — Microsoft included — continue to define limits, cloud storage capacity is evolving in much the same way as cellular calling minutes. In the very near future, the capacity will cease to be a differentiating factor in choosing a cloud storage provider, and unlimited storage will simply be the de facto standard.

How to edit PDFs in Microsoft Word

Working with PDFs has become as common as working with Word docs, but to get the full editing capabilities in Adobe Acrobat you must shell out more than $400 for the Professional version. While there are plenty of less expensive alternatives, the simplest solution might be a tool you already use: Microsoft Word 2013.

While previous versions of Word let you save a document as a PDF, Word 2013 allows you to open an Adobe formatted file, modify it and then resave it back to the PDF format without using Acrobat. Microsoft calls this new feature PDF Reflow, and here we’ll show how it works with a file containing text and an image.

Linux was created for the desktop on your computer. Ironically, it has totally dominated everywhere else from supercomputers, to servers and your smart phone but monopolies have so far mostly kept it off computers you can buy until now.

With Windows XP ending April 8, 2014, the failure of Windows 8, the extremely high prices of Apple products which only work with other Apple products and the fact that Linux is so much more secure, it is time to switch to Linux including Linux Mint 16 KDE or a Chromebook. Linux Mint is the number four operating system in the world! Download and try it for free. Install if you like it. You convert easily and save lots of money! A+ Computers sells Linux computers along with other proprietary computers. ARM processor Chromebooks are top sellers at Amazon, Best Buy, Office Depot, etc. for around $200. Also download the Chrome Browser (not Chromium browser) so you can run apps on your Intel processor computer.

ChromeOS, which comes installed on the Chromebook, was primarly designed to work on the internet but people often have the need to work on documents, Emails, etc. offline and there is a way to do that. If you go to
your documents or http://drive.google.com – More – Offline, you can set up to work offline. Many persons are installing a Linux operating system on ARM Chromebooks which gives them the ability to also work offline with all the usual applications such as LibreOffice, etc. and all the associated features we are used to. Bodhi Linux has a new release for ARM Chromebooks Jan 12, 2014 screenshot here. Bodhi Linux handbook is here.

We will review Linux Mint 17 KDE, Kubuntu 14.04, Bodhi 3.0 rc, gsmartcontrol for hard drivesLightbeam,
smart phone comparisons, Gnuradio.org, gpg, putty, hoopla, Tails 1.0, gufw, Google hangout, Uberconference,
Wikitree genealogy, Gedcom files, Gramps genealogy software, Pixel Qi screens, Remastersys and mesh networks,
dual booting Linux on a Windows 8 computer (or just buying a Linux computer), clementine, audacity,
BIOS replacements including UEFI, Coreboot, OpenBios, Plop and flashrom.
